Consistent business information helps customers recognize the right company and understand how to contact it. Start with a confirmed record of your business name, actual location, public phone number, website, services and customer area. Use that record to correct contradictions across the places you control.

Separate your base from your service area

A company can serve Oakland County without having an office in every city. DH Digital Design is based in Pontiac and serves communities including Troy, Birmingham, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Hills and West Bloomfield. That is different from claiming a separate business location in each community.

Use clear labels such as “Based in” and “Serving.” Do not add a map pin, street address or office claim simply to make a location page appear more local. If customers visit by appointment or the business travels to customers, explain the actual arrangement.

Create a business facts sheet

Keep the approved information somewhere your team can find it. Include who is responsible for updates and when each item was last checked. This is especially useful when a designer, advertising provider and business owner all edit different systems.

Do not publish private administrative details from this sheet. Its purpose is to maintain accurate public information, not to expose account access or internal records.

Review the pages people use to verify you

Start with the homepage, contact page, footer and About page. Then check core service pages and active business profiles. Look for an old phone number, a former service, a misleading location heading or a contact link that points to the wrong destination.

Small formatting differences are less important than real contradictions. Prioritize a disconnected phone number over whether one profile writes “Michigan” and another uses “MI.” Keep a correction list with the URL, problem, owner and completion date.

Understand what consistency cannot do

Google says local results consider relevance, distance and prominence, and businesses cannot pay or request a better local ranking. Accurate information helps describe the business; it does not erase distance or guarantee visibility throughout the county. See Google’s local ranking guidance.

For that reason, a Royal Oak service page should help a Royal Oak customer understand the service. It should not imply that inserting the city name creates a nearby office or guarantees a map result.

Keep website descriptions and structured data aligned

When a public fact changes, review both visible content and any structured data describing the business. A corrected contact page paired with an old phone number in markup leaves conflicting information behind. Ask your website provider which system supplies that markup before adding another plugin.

Schedule a review when your phone, location, hours or services change, and include the website in that process. Read about structured data for local businesses and ChatGPT search preparation, or contact DH Digital Design about your site.
